Schwabe Chininum Purum (Trituration) (20 GM)
It is the main alkaloid of Cinchona bark.
Quinine was used earlier in malarial fevers as well as other forms of intermittent fevers. Because of its solubility problem. Its salt Quinine Sulphate replaced the drug Chininum purum. But careful literature survey reveals that there are differences in action. It has been found useful in falciparum malaria resistance to chlorquine and other antimalarials.
It has also been found useful in nocturnal cramps.
